ABOUT US
THE POWER OF PLAY
We started the drive in 2015 after my then 10-year-old son, Sam, had been going through lengthy medical treatments for Leukemia. He spent many months at the hospital. For every stay, I got him a new LEGO set. During his difficult medical procedures, Sam played with LEGO and it allowed him to take his mind off of the pain. It helped him forget the chemo, the injections, and the nausea. I saw him being a kid again. I wanted to give that to my son. I wanted to give him space to play. LEGO sets provided that for him. I knew that this could help other children too. Thus, the LEGO Drive was born.
We have donated 1000s of sets of LEGO to children and their families who are undergoing significant medical challenges. We are grateful for the incredible generosity of friends and supporters who helped to make this happen. In 2020, we teamed up with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California to distribute the LEGO sets to children and families in their care. In 2025, we are expanding our donations to Childrens Hospitals in the Savannah, Georgia area.
Each LEGO set given to a pediatric patient, is theirs to keep. It is for the child who may have been told they have a life-threatening illness. It is for the child who is waiting to have a medical procedure. It is for the child who is spending their birthday at the hospital. It is also for the siblings of the patients who are feeling scared for their brother or sister. These are the reasons why we give LEGO: to make them smile, to give them space to play, to give them something fun to create, and to bring them joy.
